Sarah Granville
Abstract Artist
A bit about me...
"Through my art, I aim to express my emotions and offer a glimpse into my intuitive creative process"
“IF I COULD SAY IT IN WORDS, THERE WOULD BE NO REASON TO PAINT.”
EDWARD HOPPER
"Sarah is a really accomplished artist. I love watching her journey and development as a painter. I've had the pleasure of purchasing several pieces over the years. It seems that she is not afraid to push her boundaries and try new things."
Maggie, Cirencester
As a semi-abstract artist
specialising in mixed-media, I explore the dynamic interplay of emotion and colour through bold, gestural landscapes
“The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. The hunt to uncover those jewels—that’s creative living.”

— ELIZABETH GILBERT
Having previously painted representative pieces in watercolour, this style of painting is a big change for me. But WOW! it has certainly reignited a new found love of painting. Having shaken off my previous constraints and tossed away the worry that I had about my art, instead I embrace the sheer joy of creating something I love with the passion for self expression.

MY ARTISTIC PROCESS
My canvas is a stage for risk and innovation, where intuition guides the creation process from the first unscripted brushstroke to the final layer.
BOLD VIBRANT TEXTURED
My use of jewel colours and a harmonised palette evokes a sense of joy and wonder, making each piece a vibrant exploration of the emotional landscape.
"COLOUR IS KEY IN ALL MY PAINTINGS. THE COLOURS HARMONISE AND CONTRAST"
Colour is always at the heart of my paintings, the thing is, I love colour! and the way colours compliment and harmonise with each other. I try to include quiet areas so that the viewer can rest a while and observe the textures and then move on to areas of contrast with interesting marks and shapes.
I'm an abstract and mixed-media artist. Mixed media means I use a variety of different mediums, including collage, pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylic paint... the list goes on! and different tools to create unique pieces of art that lift my spirits and bring me joy.

I often include collage and pattern to add glimpses of interest under the layers of paint, adding history to each piece.
