Why I changed to Painting Abstract Art

Updated: Oct 21

I’m writing to give you a little update on what’s been going on with me this past year.

In May 2022 I had a bit of an epiphany, not a religious one! an ‘arty’ one! For many years I’d been painting representative watercolours and many of you bought them, thank you. But I was feeling a bit stagnent and a bit bored and honestly quite stressed with trying to produce another original watercolour. It was around that time that my interest in abstracts was piqued and I wondered if I could do it. I decided to take the plunge and signed up for a 10-week course with an artist entitled ‘Find your Joy’… and I’m pleased to tell you, I did!

I learned to let go of worrying about producing something that was good, to paint for myself and above all enjoy the process and have fun!

I started all this in the garage when it was nice and warm! Then in the winter I quickly realised that my small indoor space really wasn’t big enough anymore, so I made the decision to use my son’s room while he was away at university (permission was granted!) and 'Livers Moor' was born (anagram of Olivers room!)

Trouble is, he comes home for holidays and so it all must be tidied up, cleaned, and made ready for his return! I’m not really complaining, but it would be nice to have a dedicated space.

In addition to this creative change, I’ve also recently given my website a massive overhaul to reflect my new work and style. My watercolours are still there with originals and prints available to buy, but the focus is on my abstract works now. You can have a look here or click on the images in this email. It's early days and I will be loading more paintings on there as they become ready. Would love your feedback!

I could chat on, but I’m sure you’ve reached your reading limit. I’ll save it for another day.

Thanks for reading and subscribing.

With many good wishes

Sarah x
